My husband & I bought our 1929 Tudor in the summer of 1996 without any knowledge of Model A's. That fall we joined the Gallopin' Gertie Model A Club in Tacoma, WA and it has been a love affair ever since with Model A's. In 2002 we bought a 1930 Pickup and shortly afterwards my husband died unexpectedly. I sold the Tudor last year but will never part with "Li'l Red". For the guys, I have no choice but to work & drive the pickup myself. I am a Les Andrews fan since his books are my best reference; I am very slow but will get it fixed. I have been a member of the Era Fashion Committee previously from 2000 to 2004. I have attended 3 National Conventions, one Texas Tour, and numerous Northwest Regional Meets. I am a Senior Judge and my expertise area is Reproduction. I have a large collection of patterns, sewing manuals, pattern books and almost all the Needlecraft, Delineator and McCall Magazines of our era. I collect from 1925 to 1934 since I feel it is important to know what changes came before and after our Model A Era. I have been an Entrant once and have made the Major Garment, Coordinated Apparel and hat for the daughter of one of our members who has been an Entrant twice at our NW Regional meets. This summer I plan to be an Entrant again. When I first became a judge I was terrified of being an Entrant but after being one and helping put together several outfits, I think that it should be a requirement of a Judge. I love the research of patterns: how the pattern pieces of garments changed over the years. I also feel that for ease of construction and fit, there are modern clothes and patterns that can easily be adjusted to really look like our Model A Era. This makes clothes available to our club members who would love to dress in "A" appropriate clothes but don't want the expense or fear of wearing an original garment, besides, the reproduction clothes fit. I look forward to be a member of the EFC again. I also hope to get more members interested in era fashions.
