Pegge Blinco It was almost 30 years ago that Pegge and her husband Stan thought about "how fun it would be" to own a Model A. The search was on and one weekend they took along Pegge's father to checkout a car that was for sale. Pegge's dad suggested that they "sleep on it" before making such a "big decision" but Stan was adamant about buying the 1930 Sport Coupe. So the purchase was made and they really didn't know what they had but were excited about this new adventure. They soon joined the Beaver Chapter out of Portland, Oregon, some 26 years ago, and once their Sport Coupe was fully restored, they attended the 1984 Portland Convention. Too much fun and so many Model A's. After attending the Fashion Awards Banquet at the meet, Pegge was entranced with era fashion. Billie Hyland and her husband modeled era bathing suits and as she says, "I was caught-up in fashion". Pegge volunteered initially as a "runner" for fashion judging and followed that with judging (before tests). She was an Apprentice Judge and then when the Era Fashion Judging tests were offered she quickly took them and over time attained the Master Judge level. Pegge's first encounter with buying era fashion happened when a lady in their club was selling some of her things. She bought a purse and then onto a second-hand store where she found an ivory striped dress which she still enjoys wearing. Pegge is quick to confess she really didn't know what she was buying and not liking the buttons promptly replaced them with something more to her taste. Of course now, she realizes she should have kept the original buttons. "One of the lessons we all can claim."
Some wonderful clothes were given to Pegge that had belonged to a Mrs. Peebles, whose husband had been an Ambassador to Australia during the late 20's and early 30's. There were two trunks - full of clothes - like "Pandora's Box" - and a step-back in time. Sadly, many of the clothes were destroyed from improper storage.
