This year, there are four openings for the 2017-18 MAFCA Board of Directors. Applications were accepted through June 15.

The candidates' biographies will be published in The Restorer.

MAFCA is always looking for a few good members to serve on the MAFCA Board of Directors. We cordially invite you to become a candidate for a two year term. As a MAFCA Director, you will bring to us a regional prospective as well as your experience and knowledge of our great hobby. You will be a part of making policy, providing direction, and learning about the national club of which you are a member. The board should be a reflection of all the individual clubs and our membership. As I was told, it is a lot of work, but a lot of fun. It is both!

All clubs have great leaders that would complement our MAFCA Board of Directors. If you are a “leader” with business experience, computer knowledge, and just want to help out – you are a good candidate. We want diverse Model A activities or ideas that will make MAFCA better. If you have some of these skills and desires, please let us know by applying. If you know any MAFCA members who want to contribute, please encourage them to apply.

Click on “Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)”. You will learn about the benefits and responsibilities of board membership. To become a nominee, click on the Director Nomination Form link below, fill out the form and mail it to MAFCA at the address indicated.

2018-2019 Candidate Biographies...

Douglas Clayton, Manteca, California
For the past two years, I have served as MAFCA’s Publications Director. In that time, the club has produced Revision 4 to the Restoration Guidelines, two new books and released an online edition of The Restorer. This has been a learning experience and I wish to put that experience to work by continuing on the Board of Directors. Model A Fords have been a way of life since I bought my first one and joined MAFCA in 1966. As members of Delta A’s, our family enjoys the many social and tour functions found in MAFCA Chapters. It is important that the club continue to be inclusive of all aspects of Model A’ing – touring, restoring, fashions, gymkhanas, swap meets, and judging. I have served as: Judging Standards Committee Member : 1986-1990, 2003-2015, Chairman 2004 – 2015, Senior Advisor 1990 – 1996, Chief Judge: 1990. Organizer, Editor and one of the authors Model A Ford Paint and Finish Guide. Bill Reeder Literary Award: 1986. Life Member: 2010.

Alex Janke, Concord, California
I have been honored to serve on MAFCA’s Board of Directors as President and currently as Treasurer. Our local chapter, the Diablo A’s elected me president twice and technical coordinator for seven years. I am a master judge and have presented technical seminars at local, regional and national levels. I have authored a number of articles for The Restorer and appear on a number of the Diablo A’s technical DVDs. I served as a Regular Army Officer for 22 years retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. I then became an HR manager with a large utility overseeing payroll, benefits , retirement, and other HR systems. A former pension fund trustee, I understand finance and business. My wife Ruth and I live in Concord, California. We own three Model A’s and tour with them regularly.

Dan Foulk, Bakersfield, California
It was my pleasure to serve on the MAFCA Board of Directors for four years from 2011 thru 2014, serving as MAFCA President in 2014. I have also served my local club in Bakersfield as Newsletter Editor, past Club President, and Board of Directors member since 2003. I was the chair of the CCRG Bakersfield Jamboree in 2012, and am doing so again for the 2020 Jamboree. I purchased my trademark Model A, a 1928 Roadster Pickup “Hank” in 1996, and my wife Shelby and I have spent many happy miles touring our beautiful country in him since then. My life’s work was in the Information Technology industry, and I bring a unique skill to MAFCA, that being Business Recovery Planning in the event of a major business outage. I look forward to again serving on the MAFCA Board for the 2018-2019 years.

Douglas Linden, Southborough, Massachusetts
Doug has been an active member of MAFCA and the Minuteman Chapter for 45 years. He Co-Chaired the 1988 MAFCA Convention (Sturbridge) and the 2001 New England Regional Meet. Doug also served 4 years (2011-2014) on the MAFCA Board as Publication Director, and was grateful for the opportunity to assist in the operation and guidance of MAFCA. Doug has held all of officer positions in the Minuteman Chapter, including editor of its award-winning newsletter. He is active four other Model A Clubs and serves as Treasure of the Mass Association of Auto Clubs, a state legislative watch dog organization.
