by Bill Siuru - Old Cars Weekly, November 18, 1999 Peter Winnewisser, who does the Old Cars Weekly column, "Watching the Old Fords Go By", and a Model A enthusiast and owner himself, has written the definitive history of the Model A. This detailed, well-told story starts with the Model A's launch in 1928 and ends with the last Model A produced in 1932. Actually, the book goes on to cover long-surviving Model As and the still very active Model A clubs. Every model is here including Model AA trucks, foreign-built Model As and many unusual models. Indeed, Winnewisser presents just a anything you ever wanted to know about the Model A. The book is also about the Great Depression era in which it lived. It includes the workers who built, dealers that sold, and people who bought one of the world's all-time great automobiles. Many of the 300 black-and-white photos and 16 page color section are from Model A owners' scrapbooks. There are also advertisements, detailed drawings, production figures, newspaper articles, and cartoons. The 272-page hardbound book is a must for any Model A fan anyone interested in automotive history or just interested in this important piece of American history.
Second edition 2005 - $39.95. Almost 200 additional photos, larger format, new chapter. |
